NIMI: What's Going On...

Tulsa Indian Art Festival 2011 - A NIMI Project

If you would like to apply for an invitation for 2011 TIAF and you are a new artist you may send your information to P.O. Box 2140, Tulsa, OK 74101. Please mail (4) photos or slides of your recent artwork, a complete bio telling us where you have exhibited, awards won, galleries who exhibit your work and any other specific information about you and your artwork. Also, we must have a copy of your tribal documentation for our files.

All of the 2011 forms and applications are online at www.tulsaindianarffestival.com.

We've Moved!

The NIMI office has moved to the historic Perryman Ranch -- 11524 S. Elwood Ave., Jenks, OK 74037. The Perryman Ranch was established before Oklahoma statehood and is the Creek allotment of Mose S. Perryman, son of Tulsa's first family, George and Rachel Perryman, who helped named Tulsa. The ranch is still a working ranch and is owned by Monetta Trepp, NIMI founder and CEO. As a child, Monetta spent summers at the ranch with her grandmother, Lulu Perryman, widow of Mose.

Tulsa's first post office is located at the ranch house. It was originally attached to George Perryman's house. George's brother, Josiah, was Tulsa's first postmaster, and mail was delivered to Tulsa by Pony Express. The 100 year old ranch house and property (which contains the original barn, well, outbuildings, and post office) are available for touring.

Looking for Teaching Native Artists!

We are currently exploring more youth classes. We feel that youth activities are an intregral part of making the youth important in the community and help build self-esteem. People wanting to help out in their community and the youth through contemporary and traditional community arts should contact the NIMI office at (918) 298-2300.

Community Survey

In order to serve the Community we want to know what you think! We want to obtain information about what kind of youth art and cultural programs are needed.

Please fill out one of our surveys so that we may know how to better serve you.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view and print surveys.
